Donna --
We just found out that Mitt Romney and the Republican Party raised more than $100 million in June.
The gap between what we're raising and what they're raising is growing -- and if we don't work to close this gap now, we risk losing at all levels in November.
We're working hand in hand with the Obama campaign to ensure that the President, and Democrats across the country, are victorious in November. So I wanted to pass along a message from Obama campaign manager Jim Messina that talks about this fundraising gap -- and how we can fight back.
Read the email below, then pitch in $3 or whatever you can to turn the tide in this election:

Friend --
Romney and the Republicans announced yesterday that they brought in more than $100 million in June.
For context, that's about what we raised in April and May combined.
We're still tallying our own numbers, but this means their gap is getting wider, and if it continues at this pace, it could cost us the election.
If everyone who's been waiting to give pitches in $3 or more today, we can start reversing this trend in just a few hours.
Please do your part -- make a donation of $3 or more right now.
One hundred million is alarming enough, but it doesn't even include the millions pouring into pro-Romney super PACs -- or the fact that, unlike four years ago, it's perfectly legal for the Koch brothers, Sheldon Adelson, Karl Rove, and anonymous billionaires to funnel unlimited money into attacking President Obama in critical battleground states.
I'm proud of the way we build this organization. Through the primaries, more than three-quarters of our donations were from people giving less than $1,000. Meanwhile, in that same period, Mitt Romney's campaign raised three-quarters of its money from people giving $1,000 or more.
If we don't take this seriously now, we risk finding ourselves at a point where there is too much ground to make up.
We need to do something about it. Today.
Please donate $3 or more:

I, of course, had a lengthy discourse in response to the above message. Here is my response:
Patrick,
There has been a huge misunderstanding among the members of the Democratic National Committee and my many responses to your emails. I am going to try one more time to clear up this misunderstanding. After emailing almost daily for close to four weeks now, I doubt the DNC will comprehend this message either. However, that is not a huge problem since it provides more fodder for my blog which you can read at http://changingparties.blogspot.com, and the DNC may find it enlightening.
I am delighted to know how well Mitt Romney and the Republican Party were able to raise funds in comparison too President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party. The reason for my delight is because I first wrote to the DNC to explain why I was leaving the Democratic Party and joining the Republican Party. Patrick, since you may not have read any of my past emails, let me give you a few specifics.
I was a Democrat for most of my adult life; to be more precise, I had been a Democrat for thirty-some years. This was not easy for me because all of my family and most of my friends are Republicans. However, I felt strongly Democrats understand the needs of our country and were the best party to make the necessary changes.
I voted for President Obama in 2008; however, in all honesty, I must admit I came very close to voting the Republican ticket. I was not happy with the choice of Barack Obama. I felt back then and continue to believe today that President Obama did not have the necessary experience in government, business or world economy and relationships. Sadly, my fears have been realized during the past four years.
The United States economy was in a difficult spot when President Obama took office. Unfortunately, now it is in a much worse situation. No fast talk or spin speech by President Obama, Nancy Pelosi or other members of the DNC can change the truth of this fact.
As I and many other disgruntled Democrats who find ourselves changing party see it, the President's main claims of accomplishments are the Affordable Care Act (aka Obama Care), the assassination of Bin Laden and today the signing of the college loan bill. I do not find these three so-called accomplishments to be worthy of praise for the President. In fact, I think he, Nancy Pelosi and the DNC greatly mistaken to declare these as victories for President Barack Obama's administration. Here are the reasons I believe this:
The Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act has several problems within it. One it will raise taxes for anyone unable to afford health insurance. Second, it claims to make health care affordable for all Americans, but it causes a major problem. Patients may be able to afford their chosen doctors, but some of those doctors cannot afford to keep some of these patients.
The DNC likes to point to how the Obama Care was modeled after the plan written into law in Massachusetts under Governor Mitt Romney. What the DNC fails to understand is Massachusetts is a very small state, and its population demographics do not match the demographics of the entire United States of American. It was foolish of members of the DNC to believe if a plan worked in one small state, it would work for the entire country.
The Assassination of Bin Laden

The Assassination of Bin Laden
While President Obama was required to give the final order since the President is the Commander in Chief, and he was ordering the assassination of a major world leader. The President was never in any real danger over this order. The Navy Seals who carried out the President's order were the ones whose lives were in jeopardy. Those brave individuals are the only ones who should receive credit or be praised for accomplishing the demise of our country's most infamous enemy.
I find it disappointing every time I hear the President, Nancy Pelosi, other Democrats and the DNC suggest it was President who took down our country's greatest enemy. Every time that remark is made it is an insult to the fine men and women who make up our military and daily put their lives on the line. President Obama never even served in the military, but because many of us made a huge error in judgment and voted him into office in 2008 he became the Commander in Chief over our military.
The College Loan Act
If President Barack Obama truly cared about the cost of college loans and the weight of repayment of those loans on newly graduated college students, he would have used the power of his office and his political friendships to lead the House of Representative and the Senate to create a better act. He would have kept a 2008 campaign promise which would not only have reduced the cost of college but would also reduce unemployment. The 2008 campaign promise to which I am referring was when he and many local Democratic politicians stated prior to the 2008 election they would make it possible for any unemployed individual to receive a tuition-free community college education in majors representing available jobs.
While campaigning, President Obama and other Democrats also said unemployed individuals seeking the tuition-free community college education and receive unemployment benefits while they do so. Unfortunately, President Obama and other newly elected Democrats immediately after taking office announced it would be impossible to keep this campaign promise. This was disappointing because not only would it lower the debt new graduates face, but it would have had a profound effect upon the number of people unemployed in our country.
Instead of facing complaints about high unemployment rates, the President and other Democrats could have been applauded for making college education affordable to all who want it and for lowering unemployment. President Obama and other Democrats made a huge error in judgment when they chose to break this particular campaign promise. What is especially surprising is how quickly after taking office this promise was abandoned.
I can provide you with many more reasons as to why I have left the Democratic Party:
Childhood hunger in the United States is at a record rate. I recently learned the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina which is where I live leads the country in childhood hunger. It is appalling this area is number one in the country for childhood hunger, but given the high number of unemployed individuals in our area it is not surprising. I do have to ask how our government can be so quick to vote to send food, clothing, medication and other aid to other countries when children in our own country are going to bed hungry on a nightly basis. I especially blame the Democratic party the number of hungry children because I always believed Democrats were the first politicians to reach out with social programs to solve the problems of our citizens.
The housing market may be showing some small sign of being resurrected, but it is still in a very dangerous predicament. I know first hand how bad it is because my husband and I lost our home a little over three years ago. Today we live in an inexpensive motel because the weekly fee is less than apartment rent, utilities, cable television, and furniture.
It is bad enough for the two of us to live this life style, but do Democrats have any idea how many families are living this way? During the school year I watch the school buses make their twice daily stops in the motel parking lot. They are picking up elementary, middle and high school students who come from families who have lost their homes. Like my husband and me, they have lived here for years because it is all they can afford.
Children should not live this lifestyle. We watch hourly drug sales happen outside the doors of some rooms, in cars or among people standing in the parking lot. It is for this reason my husband and I are very careful to peel the labels off of the medications we must take. We do not want to be robbed for our drugs, especially since I am often in the room alone, except for our dogs.
My husband is an Air Force Veteran who served in the first gulf war and in Columbia. During the ten years of our marriage he was constantly being laid off one job and then another until finally three years ago there were no more manufacturing jobs available in our county or surrounding counties. Without his unemployment benefits we would be unable to afford our motel room even as inexpensive as it is.
In October 2011 my husband began suffering grand mal and minor seizures on a regular basis. None of the physicians and neurologists who have seen him can find a reason for the seizures. They suggested as an Air Force Veteran he should go to a VA hospital which he did. The people at the hospital told him they were so backed up caring for WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War and the current Afghanistan and Iraqi War veterans, they would have to put him on a waiting list. When he asked how long it would take him to reach the top of the list, he was told a minimum of two years.
Since no one knows why he is having grand mal and minor seizures, the doctors do not know exactly how to treat him. They practice what I refer to as trial and error medication. By this I mean, they try one drug until they discover it either has no effects on the seizures or has so many side effects it is impossible for my husband to take.
The doctors have finally found one drug has reduced the number of seizures. Prior to taking this medication, my husband spent four days in a row at our local emergency room because he was having daily grand mal seizures. The drug which is so hopeful is called VIMPAT, but the problem is this drug costs more than $575 per month. It is so expensive none of our local pharmacies keep it in stock, although they offered to do so if we could pay for it.
We contacted the manufacturer to see if they had a program for individuals who did not have health insurance and could not afford the drug. They said the only program they had would allow us a $45 reduction in the cost of the medication. This means we would have to pay $530 per month for the drug which, of course, we cannot afford.
Adding to our problems, I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Multiple Auto-Immune Syndrome (MAS) which means my body's own auto-immune system attacks various organs and systems in my body. As a result of MAS, I not only have MS which is my major disability, but I have many other chronic illnesses. These include Auto-immune Hepatitis, Crohn's Disease, Auto-immune Colitis, Arthritis, Eczema, Asthma, and an ever increasing number of food and drug allergies. Please note all of my health challenges are chronic and incurable at this time. Also, the doctors have told me to expect to develop more auto-immune related diseases in the future.
What does all of this mean? In the four years since Barack Obama has been President of the United States of America, we have seen our wonderful country spiral into a depth of debt that today's children's grandchildren and probably great-grandchildren will still be trying to pay in full to China and other sources. Those same children are going to bed hungry at alarming rates because their parents if they even have a job must decide whether to pay for rent, utilities, food or medications.
We have a President who says the private sector is doing fine. I'm not sure what statistics he is seeing or companies he is observing. I and many other Americans are living with the facts of a profusely differently situation. We are looking at empty manufacturing buildings who have moved overseas leaving American workers unemployed and with no hope of find work any time soon. The President could not have been in greater error when he made his statement about the private sector.
I would think Democrats would be ashamed to know under their President, an Air Force Veteran and his disabled wife lost their home, moved into a inexpensive motel and worry about how to pay for his medical care and medication. Thankfully, I at least have Medicare and supplemental health insurance. Unless my husband chooses to apply for disability, he cannot afford the medication he needs, and Obama Care is going to make his situation even worse.
Tell me why I should want to see President Obama re-elected? I would have thought the President, Nancy Pelosi and the DNC would have understood the results of the mid-term elections to mean the American people were not happy with the Democrats and their governmental policy. Sadly, the message fell on deaf years.
I, like other Democrats, have come to the conclusion the Democratic politicians who we elected to office have broken the campaign promises they made to us. We realize Democratic politicians have turned their backs on the plights of the constituents. The Democratic Party has abandoned us; therefore, it should come as no surprise we are choosing to separate from the Democratic Party.
I, myself, have changed my political party to Republican. Yes, that's right. I am registered with the Republican Party. I plan to vote for Mitt Romney for President because I think he may be the only hope our country has to change our downward spiral. I want my nieces and nephews and their children to know what it like to grow up in a land where the American Dream exists.
Right now they do not know that sort of life, but I am hopeful it is not too late. I believe if President Obama and other Democrats up for re-election can be defeated, then hope can be restored. I believe Mitt Romney and other Republicans working with him still have a chance to bring the United States back to the glory our forefathers fought for it to be.
In conclusion, do not ask me to support President Obama. Do not ask me to support the Democratic Party. Do not ask me to donate even the relatively small amount of $3.00 to the Democratic National Committee.
The only way I could do any of those three things would be if I believed in and supported the Democratic Party. I would have to be a member of the Democratic Party to consider any of those things. However, I have left the Democratic Party, and I am now a voting Republican.
I cannot even wish you well because I do not want good things for the Democratic Party. I will wish Mitt Romney well and hope he is elected. I will wish for you and other Democrats to open your eyes and see what American life is really like in today's United States. Take your heads out of the sand, and see the harm the Democratic Party has done to our country.
