Here is the message the DNC sent to me today:
This is a monumentally important year, to say the least.
We need to re-elect President Obama, hold on to the Senate, and take back the House.
If we're not successful, Republicans are threatening to cut women's access to preventive care, repeal Obamacare, and craft economic policies that will throw the middle class under the bus.
That's why, with just about four months left until Election Day, we all need to get involved in the fight as best we can.
With a donation of $3 or more today, you can join that fight and become a contributing member of the Democratic Party in 2012.
Having you join our 2012 effort is important to us. So we want to sweeten the deal.
By donating today, not only will you become a contributing member this year, but you'll also be automatically entered to be one of four Democrats we'll fly to Washington D.C. to meet our Chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, for lunch -- airfare and hotel are on us.
We're expanding state operations across the country and making decisions that will affect the outcome of races at every level. Your donation will give us the ability to send more resources to battleground states -- that means more staff and supplies where it's most critical.
And that's why we need you to join the ranks of thousands of other Democrats across the country to stop Republicans from being able to push their right wing agenda in the fall.
Donate $3 or whatever you can today to become a contributing member of the Democratic National Committee in 2012 and to be automatically entered for a chance to win a trip to D.C. for lunch with our Chair, Rep. Wasserman Schultz:

And, here is my response:
Dear Patrick,
I greatly appreciate the tenacity of the Democratic National Committee in wanting me to donate three dollars to the campaign. However, as I have emailed repeatedly, my initial message to you was to explain why I am leaving the party. In other words, I do not want to be a member of the Democratic party any longer!
I do not approve of the actions taken by DNC, President, Nancy Pelosi and most Democratic elected officials. I have seen the party go off in too many wrong directions and break too many promises which were they made while seeking election. I truly believe Democrats are completely out of touch with the very people who elected them to office.
I have been appalled by the bills which have been passed under the guidance of President Obama and Nancy Pelosi. I am also angry and upset by President Obama's latest action concerning illegal immigrants in our country. My husband was laid off three years ago, and despite doing everything possible to get a new job, he has been unable to do so. His extended layoff and our worry concerning how much longer his unemployment benefits will be available increased our anger and frustration when we heard the President say, "The private sector is doing fine."
Are there any members of the party who are aware of how difficult life is for the middle class? I have come to the belief there is no one among the Democrats in office or on the national committee who have even the slightest understanding about the difficulties we are facing. I know for certain the party does not understand the problems my husband and I are facing,
If these difficulties were not enough reason to leave the party, the actions of Nancy Pelosi and her husband concerning stocks when she was privy to information not known by the public and used by the Pelosi family for profit is a huge blemish to the party. The actions of Nancy Pelosi and her husband while just barely on the side of being legal to the average American, and certainly to me, appear as close to insider trading as one can get. If a citizen had been privy to the same information and used it to profit from stock purchases, that citizen would immediately be charged with insider trading. The fact Ms. Pelosi told 60 Minutes she saw nothing wrong with her actions is proof she should not hold public office.
I am angry and frustrated with the DNC. I do not believe a single Democrat currently in office or serving as a member of the DNC cares about the welfare of American citizens. If they did, there actions would be very different. I believe both President Obama and Nancy Pelosi should be ashamed of their heartless, uncaring and embarrassing behavior and political actions.
Allow me to state once again, I am leaving the Democratic party despite having been a member for more than thirty years. I have decided to join the Republican party, and I sincerely hope President Obama is not re-elected. I will be voting for Mitt Romney.
Finally, please stop emailing me about what I can do to help the Democratic party. I have no desire to help the party. I want Democrats to be defeated! Nothing would make me happier than to discover the day after the elections all Democrats were defeated in their attempts to be elected or re-elected!
